Alana Lamont embarked on her Master’s journey in May 2021, under the joint mentorship of Dr. Michael Jackson and Dr. Tiina Kauppinen, following her B.Sc. (Honours)- Co-op in Genetics at U of M. Her research looked at the regulation of microglial phagocytosis in the context of amyloidopathy in Alzheimer’s disease. Specifically, she examined whether individual components of the PARP-1/TRPM2 pro-inflammatory signalling pathway in microglia were significant modulators of the phagocytic uptake of amyloid beta. Alongside her academic pursuits, Alana garnered the prestigious CGS-M (CIHR Master’s studentship award). Attending SFN 2023 in Washington, D.C. was another highlight of Alana’s academic journey. Wishing her continued success and fulfillment in her academic and professional endeavors.
Congratulations, Alana Lamont: Successfully Defending Her Master’s Thesis!
