WINNERS OF LCIF IMAGE CONTEST 2024
We are thrilled to announce the winners of the second annual LCIF Image Contest – 2024! We’re glad to continue celebrating the stunning microscopic images produced by the remarkable research within our facility and it would not be possible without your contributions. So, a heartfelt thank you to all participants for their outstanding submissions.
Here are the winners of the LCIF Image Contest 2024:

The image depicts HEK293T cells stained to label pannexin 2 (blue), wheat germ agglutinin (a plasma membrane marker, green) and calnexin (an ER marker, red), to visualize which cellular compartments pannexin 2 expresses.
Third prize winner
Using magnified analysis of the proteome (MAP) an expansion microscopy technique which increases resolution 4x, this image shows pre- and post-synaptic proteins located in sub-synaptic domains of hippocampus neurons.
ALL ENTRIES (NO ORDER)
Neurons (YFP labelling) are surrounded by glial cells like Microglia (Iba1 microglial marker) and Astrocytes (GFP labelling). The red channel depicts the GluN1 expression. GluN1 is the obligatory subunit of the NMDA receptors.
The three-layered cerebellar cortex, from inner to outer: Granular Layer: Contains α-synuclein positive cells (green dots).Purkinje Cell Layer: A single layer of red cells in the middle labeled with Calbindin. Molecular Layer: Outer green layer containing various cells and processes.
This image shows the co-localization of PV (parvalbumin) interneurons and LRRTM2 expression. The PV interneurons are visualized in green, indicating their presence and distribution within the brain section. The LRRTM2 expression is marked in red, highlighting areas where this protein is expressed.
